Obituary of Domenico Dragani

Domenico Dragani was born on February 26, 1934 in Torino Di Sangro, Chieti, Italy. Domenico passed away the evening of March 29, 2016 at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton surrounded by his family. With determination Domenico immigrated his family to Canada in March 1959. He was a hard working man who sought to continue farming in Canada once they arrived by boat. Domenico started out working various job in Calgary, but with his entrepreneurial spirit started Care Cabs in 1968 and continued to own and operate the company until 1975. He then bought his first farm south of Shepard, AB in 1970. After selling his cab business in 1975 Domenico moved his family to a farm north east of Sedgewick where they reside today. Domenico started raising Purebred Hereford cattle and grain farming. He attended many cattle sales in the local areas as well as venturing back to Calgary for a few bigger sales. He continued to work on the farm and grew his operations in cattle and land. Domenico is fondly remembered by his loving wife, Maria, daughter Gabe (Craig) Hill, grandchildren Tai (Ashley) Hill and Sean (Staci Potruff) and great-grandchildren Keilani (Tai & Ashley) and Van & Roman (Sean & Staci); his son Joe (Ramona) Dragani and grandchild Jarrett (Courtney Hanley); his daughter Janet (Rick) Yarham and grandchildren Brittany (Craig) Butcher, Andrew, Brett (Tatiana Holt). Domenico was predeceased by his parents, Nicola & Laura, his brother Joe, his sister Maria, and his granddaughter, Nikki Hill. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 5211 50 Avenue Killam, Alberta. A private family graveside service will be held separately. Please join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments following the service, in the church hall.
