We have some great memories of Glen. We farmed his land for several years and he was always so excited to watch the harvest. He was a wonderful story teller and liked to share his memories of his time growing up on the farm. He enjoyed his yearly visits to the farm, clearing out brush and for many years put in a garden there as well. He always remembered our birthdays and especially the years of double digits (44, 55, 66)…We will miss him and feel blessed that he was part of our lives. Rest in Peace.

Thanks to Mr. Carley’s quiet generosity, many students found themselves walking across graduation stages they never thought they'd reach.

Sending my condolences to Mr. Carleys family, he was a great teacher, I will never forget the way he treated me when I had a brain tumor, he did so much for me and my family when I had the brain tumor removed in 1974. He was a very special teacher.

Mr Carley lived down the lane from us for 56 years, during this time he was very generous with his fresh vegetables and raspberries. He was very patient when explaining the various varieties he grew and his gardening methods.
He always asked about the family and was interested in all the updates in their lives and where they lived.
He was a great neighbor and often told jokes that made you ponder before you laughed!
His mother was a lovely lady and he took great care of her. I have many fond memories of Glen.

As a kid uncle would be out to assist with the chokecherry harvest. He was in charge of boiling the juice down to the syrup. Later in my adult years spending time together at camp meeting where he got to know my children. Uncle had a funny sense of humour that I appreciate more seeing it in some of my kids. Uncle had a vast knowledge of history and current events. His interest in putting together patterns & double digits making for fun conversations as we caught up on the events that took place since our last conversation . Oh uncles giggle /chuckle would have me laughing along with him. It was an honour to have spent time with him and I look forward to the day when Christ will return to bring us all home.

Mr. Carley was a wonderful man. He taught my husband Keith and our oldest daughter Lori in school . Sometimes I would meet him getting the mail or occasionally at the library. He loved to talk to me about what we were up to on the farm and how the kids were doing . I will miss our talks.
Rest in peace Mr. Carley.

I have fond memories of Glen, "Mr. Carley". As a colleague I appreciated his leadership at Christmas when he lead the elementary students during Christmas carolling in the gym. He was also an excellent choral speech coach during Music Festival time. As a friend, we talked gardening and he often had produce to share. It was amazing to see the variety and the yields of his garden. He also had a knack with flowers and houseplants. The Pearly Everlasting that he gave me so many years ago is thriving, a great memory of Glen. A favourite memory is a candlelight Christmas meal he prepared and shared with us, complete with soft Christmas music. He was an excellent cook and much of the meal was produce from his own backyard.

Mr. Carley was my grade five teacher, I think his second year in Forestburg. In those days, he was the only male teacher I encountered for many years. I remember him as a quiet gentleman, dedicated to his mother. And in later years when I was visiting relatives at the Villa, I often chatted with him as he came to read the paper. It seemed to me that he was an icon of Forestburg.

Mr. Carley taught me grade five. He taught our daughter, Amaia, grade four about thirty years later. We both remember learning the song, My Grandfather's Clock! So, too, do my classmates.
Mr. Carley and his mother lived upstairs in the rental suite of my parent's home when they first moved to Forestburg. We Halberg kids fondly remember being invited upstairs for popcorn.
Later, when he had a house of his own, he was very proud of his garden. We often received a jar of his home-made black currant jam from the current year. Haha! Remember his laugh?
Mr. Carley was a fair and dedicated teacher, and always a gentleman. He remembered much detail about his students and was always happy to greet and chat with them long after they had finished school. He attended many students' reunions.
Residents of Forestburg often saw him near the library, where he keenly exchange news and perhaps a memory or two.
Glen travelled to many countries and through his church, sponsored many student in their endeavours.
Last year at the reunion of former students of Burman College in Lacombe, he was recognized as the oldest living graduate of that college. Quite a feat. His was a quiet life, well lived.
Rest in peace, Glen.

Mr. Carley was a neighbour of ours in Forestburg AB and what a wonderful dear neighbour he was! He always put in a big and beautiful garden and generously shared his garden goodies with myself and my husband! We had many visits between us and certainly enjoyed his company very much!

Mr Carley was my grade 4 teacher. When I became a teacher one of my first jobs was actually looking after Mr. Carley’s grade 4 home room class; for that time I taught my nephew, Nick Ponto.
Later in life I ran into Mr. Carley many times and always had a good chat.

Sending condolences to the family, friends and loved ones.
Mr. Carly has always had a fond place in my memories, because when I was a kid, he was always kind to me. When he caught others bullying me, he would step in and defend me. My best memory of him defending me was when I had made a clay forested island in art class and a few students were teasing me regarding how ugly it was. He stated, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that as long as I liked what I had created, it did not matter what others thought of it."
