Dear Uncle Ted, Karen & Don and family, Cathy & Stewart and family, Dorothy & Layne and family, Ted & Jodie and family, and Rob & Tennille and family. We were so saddened to hear of the passing of our dear aunty Joan. She was a wonderful lady, and I hold many fond memories of aunty Joan. I really got to know her well during my time spent working with her and Uncle Ted and driving truck for them cleaning corrals. Our coffee and lunch breaks were always full of great conversation filled with history and laughs. I always say that they were and always will be the two best bosses I have ever had! Aunty Joan made a lasting impression on everyone she met in life. Her dedication to her family and community will leave an everlasting void. We hope that time will ease your sadness and loss. Aunt Joan will never be forgotten. "Hvil i Fred kjaere tante Joan" (Norwegian - "Rest in Peace dear aunty Joan"). Love, Darren, Jodi, & Kade

We were said to hear of Joan's passing. In the 1970s the Djos, Severson, Sorensen, Litwin families used to have a family picnic near the end of summer and just before harvest at what was then known as Browns lake. In the 80s and 90s these picnics moved to Jubilee park in Camrose. These events were always memorable and particularly special to my parents, Allen and Mary. I can recall numerous times hearing my parents talk about how much they enjoyed their visits with Joan and more often than not, part of their enjoyment involved Joan sharing her rich sense of humour.
She will be missed. Our sympathies to Ted and family.

My deepest sympathies to you all, Sedgewick has lost a true historian for our community. Over the years Joanie worked with so many of us at figured skating hockey ball at every organization her children were active in. Always ready to give her all to our community. How do you share a memory when you have soooo many? My Auntie Joanie was our Sunday School Leader when we were children, she was the first Mom at the Principal’s office when a few of us got in trouble, she was always eager to hear the details from Dances or parties we attended as Teenagers after we stumbled upstairs still drowsy from sleepovers ( when there was mostly giggles & all nights chats), I remember thinking she was a Super woman after giving birth to our twin Cousins. Though she was a stay-at-home Mom, she absorbed knowledge, facts & history in an incredible way. Their home was always welcoming & I was amazed at all the people they knew.Auntie was a strong woman and she showed all her Family how strong during her recent health battles.Rest in peace Auntie Joanie… you’ve earned it! Love always Charlotte & Family

It was always so good to see Joan. She had a gift in that she could make anyone feel special. She and Ted were cleaning corrals at our farm. They took time to share lunch with us. Our oldest son, Luke had just started kindergarten and was very excited about a game he had learned. After lunch he led all of us in a game of musical chairs. Ted and Joan participated fully making Luke feel special. Joan was a salt of the earth woman. It was a privilege to know her. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Kathy and Gordon Sorenson
