Obituary of Matilda Cecilia Feddema

Matilda Cecilia Feddema of Killam, formerly of Camrose, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2016, at the age of 101 years. Matilda was born in Strome, Alberta on September 6, 1915, the eldest child of John and Cecilia Pfeffer. She married William Feddema in 1940 and this marriage spanned for 13 years during which time they operated the family farm at Strome until William passed away on January 19, 1954. Together they raised a family of seven children; five girls, and two boys: Anna-Mae, John (Irene), Margaret (Doug), Maxine (John), Ruth, Rosemary (Al), Harold and 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings Marcella and Donnie. Matilda was a hard working mother, who loved to garden, sew and bake. One of her greatest joys was the involvement with the CWL and to which she achieved a 84 years recognition. She was predeceased by her husband William, parents John and Cecilia, sisters Evelyn and Irene, brother Darrel and great-grandson Bergen. Prayer service for Matilda will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Fee & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Killam. Fellowship and refreshments will follow in the lower church hall after the service. Memorial donations in memory of Matilda may be made to the Killam Continuing Care Centre or St. Peter's Cemetery.
