Obituary of Sidney Walker
On March 2, 2008 Mr. Len Walker, beloved husband of Henriette (Bobby) Walker, passed away in Edmonton at the age of 84 years, following a lengthy struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Len was born and raised on the farm and attended school at Killam, Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary in 1955 and Sid in 1984. Len served his country in the RCAF during WW II from 1941 to 1945, following which he returned to KIllam where he and Bobby were married in 1946. He worked at the Co-op store and for a brief period, they operated a restaurant on Main Street before returning to his preferred career in the RCAF, where he served a second term from 1953 to 1973. Len and Bobby led a very interesting life with eight different postings during the last 20 years of service in Europe and Canada. He was awarded six medals and decorations during his service. Following retirement from the Service, Len occupied his time with Real Estate sales, then he became a lotto ticket agent, and finally a parkade manager before fully retiring. He and Bobby traveled regularly, particularly enjoying several ocean cruises. Besides his loving wife, Bobby, Len leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to remember him. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. from St. John's Anglican Church in Sedgewick, Alberta with Reverend Richard Conrad officiating.
