Ernie was born in Hardisty Hospital and spent his childhood on the farm with his father and sister. He worked on the rigs, and came back to help his father on the farm in 1954. He built Ernie's Service in 1956, and ran that business for approximately 25 years with his father. Ernie sold the service station and built a hog barn in 1980, which he ran until he retired. His retirement plan was to travel but he soon discovered his heart was most content at home. He enjoyed his garden, managing his big yard and attending all the garage sales he could. In February 2013 he was admitted into the Hardisty Hospital and passed away December 24, 2013 in his home town.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Hardisty Elks Hall.
