My dear sweet extra "Granma" Vera was a bright and shining light to me and my family. I was allowed to adopt her when I met her son, Barry, who became my Daddy Bear back in 1979 or so....Vera always was particularly sweet and a fun woman to spend time with. During a rough patch in my own life around 2004, Vera visited Colorado with Barry. One night, we decided to head out for supper at a Chili's restaurant. I discovered my sweet bonus Granma had never tasted a margarita and so, in order not to leave her 91 year old self unfulfilled, I promptly ordered her an El Presidente margarita.....I have to say, Chilil's does a good one! Well, Vera was delighted with the shaker and special glass (it looks more like a martini than margarita) and after her first sip, she sucked that puppy down with the speed and intention of a tequila pro!! Within about 10 minutes, she had completed her taste test and wanted another. Let's just say that sweet Vera was even more delightful and fun than her usual that evening!!
She was also a wonderful bonus mom to MY mom. Indeed, Vera shared with me that when she was beside at the passing of my mother in 2001, it was the most serene, beautiful and peaceful experience she had witnessed. She told me privately that she was no longer afraid of dying when her time would come because of being their with my own mom. I will never forget that and I know as she slept quietly a few nights ago, that I bet my mom and her beloved family who embraced Heaven before her, welcomed her home with open arms.
I will miss Vera greatly. She was an inspiration to me and a woman of simple pleasures yet great wit and delight in life. I am honored to have known her as I did and honored to have been a part of her family. May those who remember her remember her with the love and kindness she exuded to all. Blessing and much love, dear Vera May....and welcome home.....Love, Bethie

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. I am the full time care giver on nights at Tudor Manor and have been with Vera from the start. I will always remember her smile even in the middle of the night, and how she always held my hand and kissed it, there is now a void in the Tudor family that can never be filled. She was a lovely lady who will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of meeting her, May she RIP.
