Obituary of Henriette Rose Walker
Henriette Rose Yvonne (Bobby) Walker was born in Edmonton on September 1, 1920 and passed away in Calgary on February 12, 2016 at the age of 95 years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Leonard Walker, her parents Henriette and Blake Green and her brother A.V. (Bus) Green.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by four generations of nieces and nephews.
Bobby was raised on the farm near Sedgwick and after finishing school, became a hairdresser. She married a local boy, Sydney Leonard Walker in Killam, on Aug. 21, 1946 following his return from RCAF service during WWII.
Len and Bobby lived in Killam for the next seven years, where she had a hair salon and Len worked at the Co-Op store. They also operated a local restaurant for a brief period before Len re-enlisted and continued his RCAF career from 1953 to 1973. Bobby accompanied him to many postings in Europe and across Canada before settling in Edmonton.
They travelled extensively in Europe and North America and enjoyed many ocean cruises in retirement, in addition to spending several winters in Victoria and Arizona.
Bobby will be remembered with great affection by her friends and family.
A funeral service for Bobby will held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Killam, Alberta on Friday, February 19 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow in the Killam Cemetery. Fellowship and refreshments will be served in the Church Hall after the service.
Memorial donations in memory of Bobby may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Alberta.
