Walter Henry Julius Brickman
September 23, 1921- November 14, 2016
Walter was born on the farm southwest of Forestburg and lived there for most of his life. In 1941 he spent one year going to business college in Edmonton until hired away by the Barrhead Creamery. He worked there until 1942when he enlisted as an Airplane Mechanic in the Air Force during World War II. After training, he was stationed in Calgary. Walter served for 2 ᄑ years, where he learned many of his handyman techniques. Post war, he returned home and farmed until 1988. He worked at the mine in the accounting office part time during the winter months for a few years. In addition to farming, Walter kept busy with building projects on the farm, in town and for numerous friends and relatives. He enjoyed golfing, curling, fishing, bowling and hunting; plus he also got his pilots license. Family and friends were important to him. Walter never married, so many friends like the Klatts and Sandmaiers became second families to him. He kept his time filled helping at the golf club and curling rink, airport and helping others.
He was predeceased by his parents Julius and Mathilda Brickman, infant brother Ralph, his sisters Clara Cook, Selma Coutts and Esther Brickman, plus his niece Jean Coutts.
He leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Peggy (Don) Jorgensen, Bob (Linda) Coutts, Diane Cook, Dawne Cook, Hal (Barb) Cook, plus his great nieces and nephews.
