Obituary of Evelyn Frances Dammann
Evelyn Frances Dammann departed this life peacefully on April 18, 2018, at Creekside Inn, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho at the impressive age of 90½ years. Evelyn was born on October 9, 1927, in Duck Range, B.C., Canada to Alexander 'Sandy' Allan and Edith Charlotte Harrison. Her great passion growing up was working on her Grandpa Harrison's Ranch with her Uncle Bob Harrison. She entertained us with many stories of days spent harvesting the hay crop and taking care of the sheep. She never lost her passion for the beauty of the outdoors and country life.
Evelyn met her husband, Herman William 'Bill' Dammann while walking along a railroad track in Mission, BC. They were married on October 11, 1948, in Kelowna, B.C. and celebrated almost 48 years of marriage raising eight children; 4 boys and 4 girls. Evelyn devoted her years to her husband and children and beamed with pride any time she spoke about them. She was the epitome of a selfless woman, always putting her family's needs ahead of her own. Evelyn greeted everyone with the warmth of her smile and leaves a great legacy in the hearts she has touched. Although her memory was clouded during her last decade it always amazed us that she could recite the 23rd Psalm word for word and sing beautifully Amazing Grace and The Old Rugged Cross. Our beautiful mother who loved the sheep fields of B. C. and her grandfather's flock now stands in the presence of the Great Shepherd, her Savior, and sings a new song of joy.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nellie Prevost; sister, Lorraine Bendickson; and husband Bill. She leaves to cherish her memory sister, Mary Ray (Don) of Kamloops, B.C.; daughter, Diane Rumsey (Derek) of Post Falls, Idaho; daughter, Marie Hughes (Max) of Hankamer, Texas; daughter, Linda Dammann of Daysland, Alberta; son, Bill Dammann Jr. of Rockport, Texas; son, Darce Dammann of Kirkland, Washington; son, Rick Dammann of Auburn, California; daughter, Tracy Ducken (Rob) of Carnation, Washington; son Fred Dammann of Suisun, California; 18 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at the Knox United Church, 4930 49th St, Killam, Alberta on Friday, May 4th, 2018. Visitation: 10:00 am, Funeral: 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Killam Cemetery. A lunch will be served at the church after the burial.
