Obituary of Albert Eckstrand

Albert was born December 4, 1926 and passed away October 15, 2012 at Killam Auxiliary Hospital at 85 years of age. He was raised on the family farm south of Sedgewick. Farming with his two brothers, Vic and Carl and later Ian, was his passion. He continued to come out and help wherever he could until 2011. He faithfully cared for his mother until she moved into the Sedgewick Lodge, which was around the time he met Ardith - the love of his life. Ab and Ardith enjoyed 22 wonderful years together. Ab was generous, kind and gentle man and this was evident to all his involvement in the church and community. He always could be counted on to lend a helping hand. Albert was predeceased by his parents Charles and Edla; two sisters Anna and Elsie; two brothers Vic and Carl; five brothers-in-law Oliver, Ed, Pancho, Grant and Pat; sister-in-law Gardelene; stepson Tim; nephew Dallas and Ardith's parents Ed and Mary. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Ardith as well as one sister Elvera; four step-children Guy (Linda), Gary (Liz), Allen (Sue), Ed and families including 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Edith, Helen (Ken); brother-in-law Bill (Denise) and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Sedgewick United Church with Reverend Randy Hedeman officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
