Obituary of Sherrie Lynn Busse
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sherrie Busse of Killam, AB on September 15, 2017. Sherrie will be greatly missed by her children Kerry (Michelle), Steve (Wendy), Rick (Colleen), Darren Busse and her grandchildren Megan, Rylan, Braden, Stephanie, Andrea, Nathan and Jared Busse.
She is survived by her brothers Lorne and Robert Maxwell, brothers-in-law Robert (Jean) Busse, Roy (Donna) Busse and sister-in-law, Grace Kells, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sherrie was predeceased by her husband Dennis and her parents John Maxwell and Florence (Ted) Fornal, brother in laws, Albert and Allan Busse and sister in law, Edna Palmer.
Sherrie grew up in Viking, Alberta and loved playing basketball, baseball, and curling. She was offered a basketball scholarship to Minnesota, but declined and chose to follow her passion to be a nurse. She graduated from the University of Alberta School of Nursing in April 1967.
On January 28, 1967, she married her soulmate and forever love, Dennis Busse. Their 50 year marriage was blessed with 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and many travel adventures.
Sherrie’s kind, caring and patient nature were some of the qualities that made her a fantastic nurse. In 2012, Sherrie was nominated by her peers for the CARNA Award of Excellence in Clinical Practice. Her skills and respect resulted in many patients hoping that she was working when they came to the hospital. She retired in 2015, after 48 years of nursing.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, September 21 at 1:00 pm at the Killam Community Hall. There will be refreshments and fellowship to follow.
Donations in Sherrie’s memory can be made to the Killam & District Health Care Foundation.
