Obituary of Rosemary Jack

Rosemary Jack passed away peacefully, May 16, 2021 at the age of 89 years. Rosemary Ann Jack (nee Cookson) was the 3rd child born to Thomas and Elsie Cookson on September 25, 1931. She attended Cambridge school, south of Lougheed, AB and went to high school in Sedgewick. Rosemary met the love of her life James (Scotty) Jack. They married on December 30, 1950. They had 4 children, Lindsay (Gail), Darrell (Charlene), Diane (Dean), Donald (Sailor) (Izzy). Grandchildren Trish, (Clayton), Marty, Christopher (Stephanie), Rachelle (Alfie), Lisa (Riley) and Robert. Great Grandchildren, Reegan, Kaleb, Jordynn, Charlie, Grady and Jackson. She is also survived by her brother Donald Cookson of Lougheed, Alberta. Rosemary is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Elsie Cookson, her husband James (Scotty) Jack, and her brother Ernest (Ernie) Cookson. Family and friends were especially important to Rosie. She loved being a wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandmother. Her door was always open. There was always an extra chair at the table and an extra potato in the pot for anyone who happened to stop by at mealtime. She shared many birthdays with her Special Birthday Group. She was a great friend and was well loved by the community. After Scotty passed away, you could often see Rosie walking her dog Angel, who was her companion and forever faithful furbaby. They would walk miles on the walking trails in Sedgewick smiling and waving to all that they met on the way. Sometimes they would even stop for a short visit. Rosie was an active member of the community. She was always willing to volunteer for community events and fundraisers. Rosie enjoyed many years as a member of the local bridge club, curling, and bowling club She was a member of the Anglican Church. She had many hobbies. Her family and friends were recipients and still cherished many of the special items that she had knitted for them. She loved to bake and was famous for her buns. At Christmas time she made special cookies for the grandchildren. She made flatbread and booze cake for the adults. She often had requests for her famous Poppy Seed Chiffon Cake. Rosie LOVED sports! Her TV was always on a sports channel where you would find her watching golf. The Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Blue Jays were her favorite teams. She was the sports biggest fan! Rosie could be found at many of the sporting events, cheering on the local hockey, baseball, and curling teams. Due to COVID restrictions, the family will be having a private ceremony, at a later date and hope to the have a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Rosemary Jack to a charity of the donor’s choice or the following: The Sedgewick Seniors Center The St John's Anglican Church in Sedgewick.
