Obituary of Slim Goossen
Landis (Slim) Dale Charles Goossen was born to Abraham and Lydia Goossen at Waldheim, Saskatchewan on December 30, 1931. Slim passed away at Killam Long Term Care on February 23, 2022 at the age of 90 years.
Predeceased by his parents and wife Eileen, brothers Mark and Bob, sister Valeda, son-in-law Brad Moody and grandson Bradley Ruud.
Slim is survived by Eileen’s family and sister Helene, nieces and nephews, grandsons, great and great-great-grandsons.
The Goossens moved to the Hardisty area by the Battle River in 1945 which soon became know as the Goossen Ranch. Slim married Eileen Ruud on June 18, 1983. They lived on the ranch until retirement. They moved to Lougheed where they enjoyed camping, bus trips, and family.
Slim and Eileen moved to Providence Place in 2014 until the passing of Eileen. September of 2020 Slim moved into Killam Long Term Care and resided until his passing.
It is Slim's request that no funeral service will be held. Donations can be sent in the memory of Slim to Killam Long Term Care or the Lougheed Seniors Center. The Family would like to thank Dr. Stan and Killam Facility Staff for the care and kindness shown to Slim. Thank you everyone for warm support by phone calls, messages and flowers.
