In august we went down to Killam to see Gramdma and when we got there she wanted us to take her for a walk to the store. The kids were very excited to go for a walk with their great grandma. When we got to the drug store we tried to get her into the store but the door with ramp was locked so we had to try to get her up the step by the other door and it took all three of us to get her into the door once we got into the store they told us they could have unlocked the door. After we left the store she wanted to take the kids out for ice cream at the one spot ice cream shop but they were not serving ice cream but only milkshakes so she got them and herself a milkshake. Then we took her for a long walk back to her place and then we took a picture of her and the three children before we took her back into her place. She really enjoyed going out for a walk. We will miss her smile and always joking with all of us. We Will always remember you always Grandma Vi

On my 18th birthday, Violet (my great grandma) called me while I was violently hungover in the bathroom. I didn’t have a saved contact for her number but I recognized the area the phone call was coming from so I answered. And there was my sweet old grandmas voice faintly wishing me a happy birthday. It took me a minute to recognize her voice because she spoke so quietly. I proceeded to tell her about my day but more specifically, that I was currently in the bathroom trying not to throw up.. again. Grandma laughed historically and said there’s no other way to celebrate one’s 18th birthday. It is my favourite “happy birthday” I have ever received and I think about how hard we laughed during that call often.
