Obituary of Delbert Lorne Gillett
Delbert Lorne Gillet was born on August 30, 1954 and passed away on March 14, 2016.
Del was born and raised on the family farm outside of Fairview, Alberta, in the heart of Peace Country. He was the second of four children to Walter and Doris Gillett. In 1979, Del and his family started their life in Killam where he had made his home.
Del was a gifted mechanic whose talent enabled him to take pride in his trade. He earned the master technician award of excellence early in his career. He was well known and loved by people in the community.
Del loved the outdoors. Snowmobiling and hunting gave him much enjoyment. He is best remembered for the twinkle in his eye and his infectious smile.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Doris Gillett, his siblings Wallace (Debbie) Gillett, Harvey (Edith) Gillett, and Heather (Tom) Smith, his children Russell (Laura Lee) Gillett, Tanya (Kelly) Piche, Mandy (Marty) Reed, and Michelle (Braden) Gillett, and his eight grandchildren, Kiana, Tyler, Hailey, Jorja, Scarlett, Weston, Layton, and Brooke. Del was predeceased by his father Walter.
A memorial service for Del will be held on Monday, March 21st at 2 pm at the Killam Community Hall.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Killam Public School to help fund transportation for field trips.
