Obituary of Noreen Winifred Delange
Noreen was born August 22, 1920, the second of seven children born to Bill and Hazel Buxton. She grew up on the family farm and attended Poplar Site School. In September 1942, she enlisted in the R.C.A.F. and worked as a postal clerk for #6 Bombing Division in London and Yorkshire, England. She returned to Canada in February, 1946.
Noreen married Louis Delange, the love of her life, on April 20, 1946. From this union, four children were born: Carole (1947), Clifford (1949), George (1954) and Vicki (1961).
Noreen and Louis lived on the Delange family farm, southwest of Amisk until 1973 when this farm was sold and they moved to another farm in the Killam area. While on the farm, Noreen took great pride in her vegetable garden. She was a good cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Noreen and Louis were able to enjoy many vacations to foreign countries. Noreen would spend countless hours researching the details of each vacation. In her home there were numerous travel books and photo albums that captured every moment.
After the passing of Louis in 2000, Noreen moved into town and lived in the Killam Manor. Here she walked daily, rain or shine, to the cemetery. Some years later she moved to the Battle River Lodge in Wainwright where she found great companionship with her two sisters, Lova and Phyllis. As the years passed and she wasn’t able to walk as much, she filled her days with reading.
Noreen passed away peacefully on April 3, 2016 at the age of 95.
Noreen will be lovingly remembered by her children Carole (James) Cameron, Clifford (Linda), George (Gudrun), Vicki (Larry) Storbakken. Grandchildren Tracie (Errin), Tyler, Jason (Shannon), Carmen (Randy), Trish (Cory), Jody (Byron), Cody, Craig (Nikki), Amy (Chad), 19 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, four siblings Lova Johnson, Phyllis Scott, Bud (Margaret) Buxton, Kay (Gene) Campbell and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Noreen was predeceased by her husband Louis, sister Geneva, brother Gary and grandson Todd.
As per Noreen's request, a private family service will be held. Memorial donations in memory of Noreen may be made to the Killam Cemetery.
