Obituary of Eileen Mary Atkins
Eileen Mary Atkins was born first child of Ed and Louise Barnett at Unity, Saskatchewan on November 30, 1949. She went to grade school in Unity. From there Eileen went to North Battleford for a year of college. Eileen married Tom Atkins in August 1968 and they moved to Edmonton where she attended another year of college. While in the Edmonton area, Tom and Eileen had two children, Stephen and Corinna. In 1974, she moved with Tom and the children to Regina. There they raised the children, and Eileen enjoyed a career in Health Records and Systems Analysis. She retired in 2004, and in 2006 with Tom, they enjoyed winters in Arizona, and summers in Hardisty Alberta.
She is survived by her husband, Tom and their children, Stephen and Corinna. Stephen with his wife Rebecca has given her two grandchildren, Raya and William. She is also survived by two brothers, Allan and Murray. Her parents sadly predeceased her. She also leaves to grieve, many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces, family, and a community of friends.
In retirement, she shared her summer time with the Royal Purple Hardisty Lodge, the Hardisty Hospital Auxiliary, and the Czar Quilters Guild. In winter she shared her time with the Yuma Weavers and Spinners.
After more than a yearlong valiant fight with cancer, she succumbed on July 26, 2016 at the age of 66 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Hardisty Community Centre. Interment will take place in the Hardisty Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hardisty Hospital Auxiliary.
