Obituary of Jean Watts
Jean Watts passed away peacefully on January 21, 2017, in Hardisty Long Term Care. She was 94 years old. She is survived by three daughters: Judy Routledge, Stacy Watts, and Lisa Ross ( Clarence); five grandchildren ( David, Jill, Tess, Keston, and Nina); and two great-grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Lou Watts and her three brothers (Robert, Norman, and James) and three sisters (Catherine, Dorothy, and Marie).
Jean was born in Lougheed, Alberta on July 31, 1922, and lived there most of her life. She was an active member of The Lougheed Seniors Club and the United Church before she moved into Long Term Care. She was secretary-treasurer for the Village of Lougheed for many years and later worked in administration for the County of Flagstaff.
Jean loved to watch curling, to knit, sew, garden, read, cook and bake. She was known for her famous apple pie and even won first place in the Lougheed fair. In her later years, Jean loved to do jigsaw puzzles and crosswords to pass the time in long term care. She enjoyed watching the birds outside her window. She was an avid solitaire player and never turned down the challenge of a double solitaire game with Tess.
As per Jean's request, there will be no funeral service. Donations can be made to the Hardisty Hospital Auxiliary, The Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research, or a charity of your choice.
