Obituary of Carl Grove
Carl Gerald Kenneth Grove, the third child of Pete and Emma Grove, was born on April 10, 1940 in Hardisty, Alberta. He passed away suddenly on December 30, 2017 after many years of ill health.
Carl left school at an early age to help out on the family farm north of Lougheed. Although he had many different jobs during his life, he loved farming and working the land.
Carl married Linda Kirkman and together they raised four children on the family farm where many cherished memories were made. Family was his life, and he treasured the memories made with his children and grandchildren. He loved it when the children would come and visit so he could tease and spoil each of them.
Carl was an active member of the community. He volunteered and served as a member on various boards, coached sports teams that his children were on, and participated in sports himself. Carl loved to laugh and enjoyed the time spent around the kitchen table playing cards and visiting, consuming barrels of coffee and the odd cocktail or two. Carl loved to curl, hunt, fish and camp.
Carl was predeceased by his parents Pete and Emma, sisters Marta and Linda, his Brother-in-law Bill, his nephew Todd, and niece Donna and her husband Bill.
Carl is survived by his wife Linda and his children Patty (Darren) and their children Seth, Brie, Leah and Keiran, Ronnie (Brenda) and their children Karli, Connor, and Colby, Bobby and his children Jack and Ben, Billy (Brooke) and their children Kailum and Adison, two sisters, Anna (Bill) and Ramona, three brothers, John (Gail), Peter (Deb), and Clifford (Cheryl), and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Carl will be dearly missed.
The family of Carl would like to thank family and friends for their care and concern at this time. We would like to thank the ambulance attendants, R.C.M.P., Victim Services for their support and thank you to Fee & Sons for your help and support. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel at this time. For everyone who brought food, sent cards, donations and extended their sympathies, Thank- you and God Bless.
Donations can be made in Carl’s name to the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
A celebration of Carl’s life will take place on April 7th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lougheed Community Hall with Rev. Richy Williams officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be served after the celebration of life.
