I remember when my mother (Marion Sommer) first moved into Providence Place. Genevieve had moved in about the time. The two of them were always going out. I could not help but notice that Genevieve made things happen at Providence Place. She was a spiritual leader and I think many of the practices that makes Providence Place so special were and are because of Genny. She was a woman who lived her faith and she was a great example to me of how to be a member of a community.

There simply was no one like Genevieve! She was my Mom’s (Marion Sommer), neighbor at Providence Place for 11 years. My sisters & I, on our many visits, always appreciated how Genny “looked after” our Mom, most especially when Mom showed signs of Dementia. Thank You Genevieve for your daily Rosary, Blessings, & such fun at daily exercises. You were an inspiration & treasure to all of us. May you Rest In Peace!

Aunt Genny amazed me. She always knew exactly who I was when I saw her -- even if it had been several years since I had seen her last. She didn't just know that I was one of Dorothy's "Orr" girls; but that I was Colleen. She was one of the very few that never mixed up Colleen, Claudia and Carla! I do not think we will be able to make the funeral but know that our thoughts and prayers are with the family. I hope there is much remembered joy about her life. I feel like Aunt Genny would like that.
